A complete girth weld joining pipe end-to-end,also called a circumferential weld.An actual girth weld is usually made up of a number of weld passes beginning with the root pass or stringer bead and completed with the cap pass.A girth weld is the different types of arc welding processes applied in the joining of two pipes along the circumference during a phase construction of a pipeline depending on the ease of implementation and the environmental factor.It is used in making circumferential welds in pipeline and underground systems.

Girth seam welds are divided into the following categories:

Vertical circumferential seam: The welding seam is all-position welding with vertical seam as the main part, such as,the welding of the fixed mouth of the horizontal pipe belongs to the vertical circumferential seam.Of course,  the welding seam of the rotating weld of the horizontal pipeline belongs to the vertical girth.

Horizontal girth seam: the welding seam is the all-position welding of horizontal seam,such as,vertical pipe welds are horizontal circular seams.Horizontal girth welding also includes horizontal girth welding for vertical steel storage tanks,horizontal girth welding for normal standing or squatting girth welding for welders,etc.
