3PE coating is a kind of anti-corrosive coating for pipe fittings, steel pipes(seamless steel pipe, spiral steel pipe and straight seam steel pipe) and flanges. 3PE anticorrosive coating refers to 3-layer structure polyethylene coating (MAPEC) outer anticorrosive coating. It consists of three layers: epoxy powder (FBE), adhesive (AD), polyethylene (PE). Its application in FPSO ships can effectively slow the corrosion of pipelines on board and extend the service life. This structure is mainly used for FBE’s high adhesion, oxidation resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, excellent cathodic peel resistance and high density poly (ethylamide) and acrylic acid resistance.

Advantages of 3PE coating for FPSO marine pipelines:

(1) the 3PE coating is made of heat-shrinkable material with strong sealing resistance, high mechanical strength, strong water resistance and stable quality;

(2) it is convenient for construction and has good applicability;

(3) it does not pollute the environment;

(4) PE has low water absorption rate, high epoxy strength, good softness of hot melt adhesive and high anti-corrosion reliability.

Disadvantages 3PE coating for FPSO marine pipelines:

3PE coating materials cost higher.
