The India leading steel company, Tata steel has expanded new products range of welded linepipe.
In this summer,Tata Steel became the first to successfully deliver double submerged arc welded longitudinal (DSAWL) pipe through reeling method in the North Sea.The company successfully expanded the products range of X65 material pipe sizes which the wall thickness is up to 38.1 mm and a diameter is up to 559 mm.
It means that Tata steel can offer traditionally seamless pipe sizes in a welded type, and the benefits include a short delivery time and a low cost in the projects to their clients’ order.
These new welded pipelines have already been successfully performed in the North Sea.Furthermore,in the deep seawater projects in the Gulf of Mexico, their pipes are installed 140km of 457mm outside diameter and 28.6mm wall thickness .
Tata Steel recently also invested in welding control technologies within its 42-inch UOE mill, including weld condition monitoring and digital front-end control of the SAWL welding process.
Tata Steel will continue to develop its understanding of the reaction to reeling of its small diameter/thick wall SAWL pipe and planning to conduct a number of full scale simulations over the next few years as part of our research and development programme.
