Heat treatment is a method to adjust the property of steel by heat. The main methods of heat treatment are annealing, case hardening, tempering, normalizing and quenching.
What is case hardening?
Case hardening is a treatment to harden the surface of Workpiece.
What is annealing?
Annealing is to heat steel to certain temperature, maintain temperature in enough time, then cool steel in suitable speed.
What is normalizing?
Normalizing is to heat steel over 30℃ ~ 50℃ than Ac3 or Acm, maintain temperature in suitable time, than cool steel in flowing air.
What is quenching?
Quenching is to heat steel to certain temperature over than Ac3 or Ac1, maintain temperature in certain time, then cool the steel fast.
What is tempering?
Tempering is to hear steel to certain temperature but lower than Ac1, maintain temperature in certain time, then cool to room temperature.
